He was a prime target of Conor McGregor's insults in the build-up to UFC 229, but Khabib Nurmagomedov's father and coach says he has forgiven the Irishman — despite the ugly scenes that marred the bout on Sunday.
McGregor and Nurmagomedov's verbal jousting reached unprecedented levels ahead of the Sin City clash, stoking racial and religious tension in one of the feistiest promotions ever seen in the build-up to a battle in the octagon.
Things reached a boiling point when - moments after defending his lightweight title with a fourth-round submission - Nurmagomedov launched into the crowd, reportedly in reaction to another barb from the McGregor camp.
The fighters had to be escorted from the venue by police.
However, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib's father, has responded to the incident on social media, saying: "I forgive Conor McGregor, all in the past".
