Ronda Rousey has been one of Floyd Mayweather's most outspoken critics, so she probably wasn't expecting a message of support from the boxing legend after her devastating defeat against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 late last year.
But perhaps Mayweather is mellowing a month out from his 40th birthday. Asked for his thoughts on Rousey by FightHype, the former pound-for-pound champion was full of praise and encouragement.
"Ronda Rousey, hold your head up, stay focused (and) keep believing. A true champion can bounce back," Mayweather said. "You'll be okay, everything will be okay."
Mayweather did question Rousey's decision to immediately jump back into a bantamweight title fight against an extremely dangerous opponent after taking a 12-month sabbatical following an early loss to Holly Holm.
"I think that her losing had a lot to do with time off," Mayweather said. "She maybe should have competed against another female MMA fighter that wasn't as active as the female that she faced.
