Evelyn Williamson again proved her credentials by securing a hard-fought victory in the Giayuguan international triathlon in China yesterday.
Williamson, of Wellington, exited the water in the second pack of swimmers but caught the race leaders by the halfway mark of the 40km cycle.
On the run section, she ran shoulder to shoulder with China's leading triathlete and Athens Olympian Hongni Wang before pulling away to win comfortably in the last 4km.
Wang was caught and passed by Radka Vodikova, of the Czech Republic, in the last 1km.
Williamson, who has competed internationally for more than a decade, heads to the Netherlands to race next weekend, before concentrating on her build up to the world championships, in Japan in September.
