The annual Tauranga women's triathlon ran its course yesterday after Ministry of Health officials gave the swim leg a clean bill of health.
There had been concerns high levels of faecal contamination would force the 400m swim leg to be abandoned.
About 450 women took part in the event, won by Tauranga's Nicola McKay in 33m 52s.
