Two Kiwis are in the lead bunch of cyclists midway through the bike leg of the elite women's ITU World Cup race around Auckland.
Andrea Hewitt and Teresa Adam are two of six riders setting the early pace.
The men's race will begin later this afternoon with Bevan Docherty, Ryan Sissons and Kris Gemmell to lead the Kiwi charge.
Gemmell says if they work well as a team today it can give them confidence heading into Olympic year next year.
He says they have three good pawns in a game of chess at the moment and if they play right their is no reason why they can't win another medal at the Olympics.
