KEY POINTS:
New Zealand triathlete Debbie Tanner finished third in the latest round of the World Cup series in Hamburg this morning (NZ time) to confirm she is in track with her preparations for next month's Beijing Olympics.
The event was won by Germany's Ricarda Lisk who won her first World Cup title, beating Australian Felicity Abram into second spot.
Lisk clocked one hour, 57 minutes 42 seconds with Abram 23 seconds behind.
Tanner, 25, who came into the race after altitude training in the United States, timed 1hr 58min 25sec. She had finished runner-up in this event two years ago.
Portugal's Vanessa Fernandes pulled out early in the run and failed to finish, putting her status as Olympic gold medal favourite in question.
Tanner will also compete in the World Cup round in Austria in a fortnight.
In the men's race, 20-year-old New Zealander Andrew Curtayne failed to finish.
