Nicky Samuels has been forced to withdraw from triathlon's world championships in Canada this weekend with a persistent pelvic injury.
The world No.14 ranked triathlete has been diagnosed with a stress fracture and will be unable to compete and train for about two months.
"Nothing was helping the pain and so we got a bone scan done here in Canada," the 25-year-old said.
"It's conclusive that I have a stress fracture and have been advised to have eight weeks off - that's not walking, not standing, not running, not cycling and swimming only if pain free, which it is not."
The Whangarei-born athlete hoped to make her comeback in France in late August.
