New Zealand triathlete Andrew Curtayne strode up the world rankings yesterday with a fifth placing in the US$50,000 ($64,591) Seoul International Triathlon, Korea.
The Aucklander moves to 128 in the world rankings from 180 to become the highest ranked under-23 Kiwi.
"I was thrilled to finish within a minute of some of the world's best, who have been my heroes over the years," Curtayne said. "I knew after my last race in the Philippines two weeks ago I was ready for a big race. I ran so much faster today."
Australian Simon Thompson won in one hour, 51 minutes, 35 seconds with Dimitriy Gaag of Kazakhstan second and Matt Hopper of Australia third. Curtayne clocked 1hr 52min 43sec.
