New Zealand triathletes dominated at the World Cup race in Japan overnight, but a gold medal finish was just out of reach.
In the men's race, New Zealand athletes featured prominently in the top-10 with Bevan Docherty and Kris Gemmell finishing second and third in one hour 54 minutes 13 seconds and 1hr 54min 26sec respectively.
Compatriot Shane Reed was fourth, five seconds adrift of Gemmell.
Australian Courtney Atkinson took gold in 1hr 53min 27sec in the 1500 swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in the International Triathlon Union event in Ishigaki.
In the women's race the New Zealand pair of Debbie Tanner and Samantha Warriner were third and fourth with 2hr 04min 51sec and 2hr 05min 13sec respectively.
Andrew Hewitt completed a top day for New Zealand taking sixth in 2hr 06min 22sec.
Portugal's Vanessa Fernandes won in 2hr 04min 16sec.
In the overall 2007 World Cup series standings, Docherty and Gemmell are second and third on 79 and 78 points with Atkinson leading on 81.
Tanner is third in the women's series on 74, 20 points behind Australian Emma Snowsill.
