After completing her first race in 19 months Kiwi triathlete Nicky Samuels is already setting herself ambitious goals.
Samuels returned from a long-lasting leg injury to finish 20th in the Abu Dhabi stop off on the World Triathlon Series circuit.
To qualify for Olympic consideration, Samuels must finish eighth or higher in two races before the Rio Games.
She says that's achievable in the next two stop offs and it's important she shows Triathlon NZ that she's improving to peak performance ahead of Rio.
Samuels believes her cycling is where it should be, her swimming is better than her coach wants it to be and the only part that needs work is the run.
