KEY POINTS:
Rising Kiwi triathlon star Andrew Curtayne won third place in the Subic Bay ITU Asia Cup race in the Philippines yesterday.
In temperatures above 30C and in humid conditions, Curtayne, 20, led from the start of the swim and held a 15s lead at the start of the bike leg, when he rode in a competitive bunch of five, which dwindled on a very steep hill stage to three by the end of the ride.
He kept up with Japan's Kunio Nakamura for 5km of the 10km run, but then struggled in the heat to finish third, 1m 24s behind.
