Olympic champion Hamish Carter has defied the heat to claim third place at this morning's rich Lifetime Fitness Triathlon in the United States.
The race, which is mixed and sees the women start 9 minutes and 48 seconds ahead of the men, has been won by American Hunter Kemper in sweltering conditions.
Carter said he was pretty glad to see the finish line.
He said the race started at eight o'clock in the morning but it got hotter as the morning went on, so he'd had it by the time he finished.
New Zealander Bevan Docherty finished 10th, just behind the first woman home, Australian Emma Snowsill.
