Waikato police are praising members of the public for reporting an alleged drink driver on State Highway One, near Karapiro.
The foreign official at the World Rowing Championships has appeared in the Hamilton District Court for refusing to provide a blood sample.
District Road Policing Manager Inspector Leo Tooman says the man was driving 40-kilometres an hour in a 100-kilometre zone early yesterday morning.
He's praising the public for notifying police.
The man was granted interim name suppression until he reappears in court on November 8th.
