Much like the storylines in TV's Footballers' Wives, the high profile world of top athletes attracts some of the world's most beautiful women. The WAGs [wives and girlfriends] become almost as famous as their sporting partners.

Glum-faced Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, leads the pack with a carefully manipulated career in appearing in figure hugging outfits topped off with designer handbags and stilettos. Married to football star, and sometime underwear model David Beckham, Victoria moved from the UK to Hollywood and made a reality TV show about it, has written books, done a comeback with the Spice Girls, and modelled in steamy underwear ads with her hubby for Giorgio Armani. She keeps in shape running round after her three designer sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

English singer, actress, model and TV personality Cheryl Cole married footballer Ashley Cole in 2006 and divorced him this year.

Coleen Rooney, TV presenter and celebrity product endorser, is married to English football star Wayne Rooney.

Closer to home, former Miss Universe and Dancing With the Stars winner Lorraine Downes is married to former New Zealand cricketer Martin Crowe and was once married to former All Black Murray Mexted.

Like Posh and Becks, former Black Stick Honor Dillon models Jockey underwear with her beau, All Black Dan Carter. Her day job is product manager for DB Breweries in Auckland while Carter is based in Christchurch when he's playing for the Crusaders.

And Casey Green, reality TV contestant, pole fitness instructor and Kidscan ambassador, is the on-again, off-again girlfriend of All Black Ali Williams, who has also been linked to sometime model Nicky Watson.
