In this week's episode of the Vent, Tony is joined by Andrew Gourdie to talk about the big sporting issues including the upcoming Apia test, if Beauden Barrett reliable and whether the Hurricanes 'choked' on Saturday.
All Blacks vs. Samoa:
Tony Veitch: "People are going to be pissed off, five of the starting fifteen for the All Blacks vs. Samoa are from the Blues"
Andrew Gourdie: "I can't make sense of that. Well I suppose I can because we know that the best two teams in the country aren't being represented in this game but man, five? That's a third of the starting 15 Veitchy. I'm not impressed, not impressed."
Veitch: "That's going to fire people up."
Can Beauden Barrett start in a Rugy World Cup final match?
Veitch: "Can he start in a world cup semi quarter or final if he can't kick goals Gourdie?"
Gourdie: "Yeah look if we're trying to decide who is our no 1 first-five all things equal everyone's available I think right now ... it's gotta be Carter, based on that goal kicking."
Veitch: "Look Carter has to keep starting every test match, for me, they just gotta get Carter into form."
Did the Hurricanes "choke" on Saturday?
Veitch: "This one had irked me, the use of the bloody word choke. I had radio sport boys ... telling me last night on the show the Hurricanes choked after 20 years, not they didn't they got beaten by a better team."
Gourdie: "They lost that match"
Veitch: "Come on!"
Gourdie: "Look the Highlanders played very well, but if the Hurricanes had played to their potential and played the way they have all season they could have won that match."
Veitch: "So you're saying to me it's a choke."
Gourdie: "Yes."
