The sporting week in numbers, compiled by APNZ
70,000 - A large crowd is expected at Rome's Olympic Stadium on Sunday morning (NZT) when Italy host the All Blacks. The venue was the scene of one of New Zealand's greatest Olympic moments when Peter Snell (800m) and Murray Halberg (5000m) won gold within an hour of each other in 1960.
4 - When Canterbury bowler Will Williams wheeled around swatted a Jacob Duffy delivery away from his stumps with his hand on Thursday, he became just the fourth person in New Zealand first class cricket to be given out handled ball. Justin Vaughan, the former NZC chief executive, fell to the previous such dismissal in 1992.
1 - The New Zealand cricket side have won only one test in 2012 - January's innings defeat of Zimbabwe - and have a wretched record this year overall. Since the Zimbabwe tour, they have played 31 matches in all forms and won just four, lost 21, tied two (which were lost in super overs), drawn two and had two no-results.
550,000 - It's a pretty decent wage for most but Sonny Bill Williams' return to the NRL is not all about money. He's reported to earn A$550,000 for his season with the Roosters but it pales to the A$1.3 million he is due to bank for a 12-game stint (now fewer because of injury) at the Wild Knights in Japan.
