An Australian cricketer has been severely reprimanded for placing a series of little bets on the Cricket World Cup final.
Angela Reakes, who plays for the ACT Meteors and Sydney Sixers, received a two-year suspended ban following a cricket Australia investigation.
The 24-year-old player placed five best totalling A$9 (NZ$10) on who would be the man-of-the-match in the final between Australia and New Zealand in March.
The head of Australian cricket's integrity unit Iain Roy said: "All elite cricketers are reminded regularly that betting on any form of cricket is strictly prohibited. Angela understands that in placing these bets she made a bad mistake and has acknowledged the seriousness of her error.
"She has been cooperative during the investigation and we believe the penalty in these circumstances is appropriate."
