It's two out of two for the Kiwis men's doubles teams at Wimbledon after first round wins by Artem Sitak and Marcus Daniell and their respective partners.
Sitak, in his Wimbledon main draw debut, ranked 40th in the world along with American Nicholas Monroe beat German Dustin Brown and Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer in a marathon match 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8, in three hours 22 minutes.
It's unclear who they will face in their second round match on Friday as yet, but the victory is sure to boost Sitak's ranking and his confidence for future matches at Wimbledon as well as the upcoming Davis Cup against India.
Meanwhile Daniell, ranked 74th, and also in his Wimbledon debut teamed with Brazilian Macelo Demoliner and had a more straightforward victory defeating Robin Haase of the Netherlands and Frenchman Benoit Paire 6-3 7-6(4) 6-1 in one hour 45 minutes.
The third Kiwi male in doubles action, Mike Venus and Croatian partner Mate Pavic will play Santiago Giraldo (Colombia) and Portugal's Joao Sousa tomorrow night (NZ time).
