Yulia Putintseva's stay in Australia is not exactly going to plan.
The world No. 187 touched down in Melbourne ahead of the Australian Open thinking she would be allowed out of her hotel room for five hours a day to practise and receive treatment — but plans have changed.
Positive Covid-19 cases on-board two flights carrying tennis stars to Australia for the year's first grand slam have seen nearly 50 players forced into a hard 14-day lockdown — sparking a furious backlash among those who claim the rule book has been rewritten "overnight".
Putintseva was among those to complain, tweeting: "What I don't understand is that, why no one ever told us, if one person on board is positive the whole plane needs to be isolated. I would think twice before coming here."
But that was only the beginning.
