New Zealander Michael Venus has progressed to the quarter finals of the ASB Classic doubles.
Venus and Croatian partner Mate Pavic beat Australian Chris Guccione and Andre Sa 6-4 6-2 on court two.
Guccione and Sa are both experienced doubles exponents and it was a tough battle, in front of a enthusiastic crowd.
As usual in doubles, the match came down to small margins; Venus and Pavic took their chances, grabbing a break in the first set and two in the second.
In contrast their opponents couldn't convert any of their five break point opportunities, with Venus and Pavic showing great composure during their service games.
