While two New Zealand tennis players have had a good weekend, another had some up and down moments.
Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak won through to the final of the US$50,000 Challenger at San Luis Potosi, Mexico, They beat the Chilean pair of Julio Peralta and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo-5-7 7-6 (2) 10-5 in the semifinals.
They will now face Santiago Gonzalez (Mexico) and Croat, Mate Pavic in the final. The same pair they beat to win the Puebla Challenger two weeks ago.
Meanwhile Michael Venus awaited his time at the Miami 1000 Masters tournament as the second alternate doubles pair with Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis.
One team withdrew and then with Juan Martin Del Potro having issues with his wrist during his singles he also pulled out of his doubles meaning Venus and Baghdatis were in the doubles set to play German Philipp Petzchner and Alex Peya from Austria. It was to be a first time for Venus in a Masters 1000 tournament,
However Baghdatis then injured his wrist in his singles match meaning that he and Venus also had to withdraw from their doubles.
Venus will now travel to the ATP tournament in Marrakech, Morocco next weekend.
