Perseverance has paid off for Kiwi tennis player Rubin Statham.
The world ranked 431 has won 10 matches to earn a wildcard into US Open qualifying.
Statham is fully fit for the first time in a couple of years and is relishing a chance to perform at Flushing Meadows.
He says he's finally been able to play alot and has played consistently throughout the year, injury free.
Statham faces Korean Duckhee Lee who is ranked 191st in the world, tomorrow.
