LONDON - Rising tennis star Andy Murray's growing commercial attractiveness as one of Britain's leading sportsmen was confirmed today when the Scottish teenager announced a shirt sponsorship contract worth over £1 million ($2.8 million).
Murray, one of only two men to beat world No.1 Roger Federer this year, has signed a deal with bottled water company Highland Spring, whose Blackford base is just 16km from his home town of Dunblane.
"I'm proud to wear the Highland Spring logo at tournaments around the world since I love the product and it's a fantastic Scottish brand from my home in Perthshire," said British No.1 Murray, who in 2006 moved up into the world's top 20.
