Serena Williams made the upgrade to Court 1 on Wimbledon day six for her clash against Maria Kirilenko. The American has been progressing well, despite her year-long absence from the court, and fired 16 winners past Kirilenko in a dominant straight-sets performance.
Roger Federer is yet to drop a set and is still on course for a semi-final showdown with Novak Djokovic (who beat Marcos Baghdatis) after rolling past David Nalbandian. The Maestro met the Little Master Sachin Tendulkar, who was thrilled to get a photo-op.
"Spent an hour with Roger Federer chatting on the balcony of Wimbledon Royal box. What a humble guy!," Tendulkar tweeted.
Russia's Maria Sharapova is still in the running for a second Wimbledon title - she beat Czech Klara Zakopalova 6-2, 6-3.
She is enjoying the support of her fiancé, NBA player Sasha Vujacic. Vujacic couldn't make several of Sharapova's tournaments last year, with the LA Lakers winning the NBA finals. But he was traded to the New Jersey Nets, which guarantees more free time for watching tennis.
Ivo Karlovic was booted out on day three of the Championships, but the giant reminded everybody not to forget about that other game going on at Wimbledon.
"Doubles. It's tennis too," he sulked on Twitter.
Karlovic was knocked out in the singles draw, but paired up with Alex Bogomolov Jr. to take down the Israeli combo Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in the first round. Not that anyone noticed.
Rafael Nadal notched up his 17th successive win at Wimbledon, while Bernard Tomic stormed into the fourth round after upsetting Robin Soderling 6-1, 6-4, 7-5. Soderling had seen off Tomic's Aussie compatriot Lleyton Hewitt in the previous match, but had no answer to the 18-year-old's near-perfect serving. Tomic won 86% of his first serves and 100% of his second serves.
Juan Martin Del Potro and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga enjoyed straight set victories, while Caroline Wozniacki continued her fine run in the ladies' draw and finished off Jarmila Gajdosova in 62 minutes. The Dane is a big Liverpool fan, but was keeping mum about which players had been sending her messages of support.
"The last three weeks I've been in the spotlight and supposedly dating every single guy I eat dinner with! If I say a name here I'm sure it'll make a big headline!"
Ana Ivanovic's mini-revival is over - the Serb lost to Petra Cetkovska.
