The Championships fell victim to another day of bad downpours on Wimbledon day five. Andy Murray is the only Brit to make it through to the second week. Laura Robson performed magnificently against Maria Sharapova, but couldn't topple the Russian.
With the ever-present threat of rain, the Centre Court roof is proving a godsend for players and spectators alike. The roof's fabric is 100 per cent recyclable and it would take 7,500 Wimbledon umbrellas to cover the same area.
Murray had to battle hard against Ivan Ljubicic, with a four setter under the lights on Centre Court. Predictably, Murray has been on the receiving end of the "come on Tim!" calls from the crowd.
Comparisons with Tim Henman aren't exactly fair - Murray is actually very good.
"I do not find it particularly amusing," he mumbled.
After a grueling match against Date-Krumm, five-time Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams crushed Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-0, 6-2. Williams always manages to step it up a gear on the grass and completely overpowered the hapless Sanchez.
Victoria Azarenka took down Daniela Hantuchova, but that means Wimbledon fans are in for more grunting and wailing. Azarenka's first howl elicited giggles around the stadium, not to mention the copycat impressions.
Azarenka was measured at 95 decibels on the gruntometer in her opening game, but she is still some way off matching Sharapova's 105 decibel mark set two years ago.
A motorcycle emits 110 decibels of noise, while a jet engine is 114 decibels.
Feliciano Lopez dumped three-time finalist Andy Roddick out of the Championships with a barnstorming three set victory. He could potentially face Murray if the pair progress further into the competition. That's going to be awkward for the Scot, whose serial-tweeter mother Judy has been eyeing up the Spanish heartthrob.
"Ooh Deliciano... looking good out there. As always," she purred on Twitter last night.
Caroline Wozniacki comfortably overcame Virginie Razzano, while second seed Vera Zvonareva fell to Tsvetana Pironkova. Remarkably, Wozniacki committed only one unforced error throughout the entire match.
Australian young gun Bernard Tomic beat Igor Andreev to keep his Wimbledon dream alive, and Richard Gasquet is through to face Murray in the next round.
