Venus Williams and Kimiko Date-Krumm provided the highlight of Wimbledon day three, in what was a relatively uninspiring day of results.
The pair took to Centre Court in a battle of the veterans. These two had never met on the tour before - Date-Krumm retired in 1997 for ten years, just as Williams was coming onto the scene. With a combined age of 71, they enthralled the crowd with a 3-set tussle under the roof.
Williams, towering over the Japanese pocket rocket, ground out a 6-7, 6-3, 8-6 win to take the crown of the oldest player left in the women's draw.
Good old "Scottish work ethic" beat out German efficiency when Andy Murray made light work of Tobias Kamke. After the straight sets victory, the Daily Telegraph declared: "Andy Murray provides little drama, just Scottish work ethic of potential champion."
But Britain's ladies are providing plenty of razzle-dazzle drama: there were three Britons in the second round for the first time in seven years. Laura Robson, only 17 years old, defeated Angelique Kerber to progress to the next round. Robson tweeted: "I'm so happy! Absolutely amaaaazing atmosphere on court. Thank you all! Can't wait to play Sharapova tomorrow!"
Stanislas Wawrinka and Fernando Verdasco were two of the bigger names to fall overnight. Serving machine Ivo Karlovic bowed out of the Championships after losing to Lukasz Kubot. The 2.08m tall Croat is usually a tricky customer with his ridiculous number of aces per match, so most will be pleased to see the back of him.
Meanwhile, Olivier Rochus is doing it for the little men - the 1.65m Belgian was leading Juan Martin Del Potro by a set before play was suspended.
Andy Roddick and Rafael Nadal cruised through day three, but Marina Erakovic was ousted by Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova 6-3, 6-1. Roddick will now play Feliciano Lopez in the third round in what could be tie-break special. When they met at Queens two weeks ago, they combined for 50 aces in total.
Bethanie Mattek-Sands certainly made a statement in her match against Misaki Doi: that she spent more time on her Lady Gaga-inspired jacket than she did on the court. She lost in three sets.
