Novak Djokovic celebrated the achievement of a life-long dream by eating the famous green grass of Wimbledon on the final day of the Championships.
He told the post-match press conference the "well kept" grass "tasted really quite good."
Before the match, three-time Wimbledon winner Boris Becker predicted "Djokovic is just in that place where you find a way past every opponent... winning has become such a habit you do it almost without thinking."
He picked Djokovic to win in five sets, but the Serb was more clinical than that - crushing Nadal in the opening two sets, before finally winning 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
That made it five final wins out of five for Djokovic against Nadal in 2011. The Belgrade-born ace achieved a goal he had been dreaming about since he started tennis aged just four.
Nadal, as always, was gracious in defeat.
"I lost because I am playing against the best player of the moment, the best player of the world tomorrow, and I am the second," he said
Amongst the famous faces at the final were the Serbian president, Jenson Button, Bjorn Borg and Rory McIlroy. The golfer is clearly enjoying the perks of being the US Open Champion, making his second appearance in the Royal Box.
The absence of Pippa Middleton on day 13 would not have gone down too well with BBC viewers, who have been unhappy at the broadcaster's recent footage. Several times, slow-motion coverage of Pippa has been interrupted by the occasional shots of tennis players in action.
Djokovic will officially top the ATP ladder when the new rankings are released tomorrow.
It's the first time since February 2004 that neither Federer nor Nadal have topped the standings and the new world No 1 is determined to push on.
"I have achieved the two biggest things in my life in the last three days, but I will definitely not stop here. I want to be a tennis champion. This is what I am born for."
