KEY POINTS:
Austrian Tamira Paszek is the first player to arrive in Auckland for the ASB Tennis Classic starting later this month.
The 17-year-old world number 41 has arrived two-and-a-half weeks before the tournament begins. She says she wanted to play in the tournament last year and has heard a lot of good things about Auckland so is happy to be here. She says the weather influenced her decision to come down under as it is snowing back home in Austria.
Paszek has been one of the big movers on the WTA tour after starting the year ranked 181 in the world. She reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and the US Open this year and also came within a couple of games of beating world number one Justine Henin in Dubai in February.
