Tennis: Pakistan give up on hosting Davis Cup tie

Pakistan has given up hope of hosting its Davis Cup tie against New Zealand after 54 people were killed in weekend suicide attacks in Lahore.

The Pakistan Tennis Federation had argued before the attacks that the tie should go ahead as planned. Following the attacks, PTF president Dilawar Abbas admitted the "situation has changed".

Tennis New Zealand had already contacted the ITF, asking for the Asia/Oceania Group two semifinal to be moved.

The tie is now likely to be staged here in July.

Pakistan has been hit by a series of militant attacks, including the ambush of the Sri Lanka cricket team's bus last year, leading to the cancellation of several sporting events in the country.
