An internal battle is underway as four of New Zealand's top tennis players go head to head for a wild card into the Heineken Open men's championships which start Saturday week.
First on court on Auckland's North Shore is second seed Dan King-Turner against third seed Adam Thompson.
Before play started, King-Turner said he had a slight advantage having beaten Thompson in the final of the recent New Zealand Residentials.
He says the win could give him the mental edge but the four play each other so often it is going to come down to who is on form on the day.
