New Zealand will open their Davis Cup tennis campaign next year with a home tie against Malaysia.
They will meet in the Asia-Oceania zone group two tie on March 6-8.
New Zealand lost 2-3 to China in the 2008 group two final in New Plymouth on Sunday after earlier forging a 2-0 lead.
The other group two nations for 2009 are Hong Kong, the Philippines, Pakistan, Oman, Indonesia and Kuwait.
