New Zealand will face the Philippines in the Asia/Oceania Davis Cup group two tennis final after completing a 5-0 clean sweep of Indonesia yesterday.
A one-sided semifinal tie in Hamilton ended on an appropriate note as Dan King-Turner and Oliver Statham cruised to straight set wins in yesterday's reverse singles.
New Zealand No 1 King-Turner completed a perfect weekend with a 6-4 6-1 defeat of Ayrton Wibowo and Statham was untroubled in his Davis Cup debut match, downing Sunu Wahyu Trijati 6-1 6-0.
On Saturday, King-Turner combined with G.D. Jones in the doubles to beat the well-performed combination of Christopher Rungkat and Ketut-Nesa Arta 4-6 7-5 7-6 6-4 to seal victory for New Zealand.
The tie away to the Philippines will be in September, with the winners promoted to group one to compete alongside the likes of Australia, India and Thailand.
Team captain James Greenhalgh said that tie would represent a significant challenge to his team but he was confident improved form and depth could see them advance.
