Tennis New Zealand has today confirmed that after six years, Chief Executive Steve Johns is leaving the organisation to take up the role of Chief Executive of Swimming NZ.
Tennis NZ Chair, Celia Patrick praised Johns dedication to the role and taking the sport forward.
"Steves enthusiasm and commitment to the sport has been outstanding during periods of challenge and change. He has made a significant contribution to Tennis New Zealand during his time as CEO, and while he will be missed, we are pleased that his skills and experience are staying in the wider New Zealand sports family".
Tennis NZ will commence the search for a new Chief Executive early in 2017 with the role being responsible for the implementation and successful roll-out of the organisation new 2017 - 2022 Strategic Plan.
Significantly Johns, a former Taranaki swimming rep and record holder and New Zealand water polo representative is taking a role in a sport he grew up with.
