Tournament director Karl Budge may make a play for top Aussie Nick Kyrgios for January's ASB men's Classic in Auckland.
Budge chatted to Tennis Australia officials last week at Wimbledon and for the first time raised the possibility of approaching Australians.
Budge says while he would love to have a look at getting the world number 18 to play here, he's not sure it will come off.
He says whether or not he's ready to commit to potentially ruffling a few feathers over there he will have to see what he's got but he's certainly having a far closer look than he's had in the past.
Budge says it's not in their interest to start a turf war over their Australian players but for the first time they sat down and asked where would it sit if we had a conversation with player x.
