Kiwi Michael Venus and South African doubles partner Raven Klaasen have knocked out the fifth seeds to reach the quarter finals at the Toronto Masters.
They've beaten Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo 6-3, 5-7 11-9 in 1 hr 21, a result that keeps them right on track to qualify for the season ending ATP World Tour finals in London.
The Wimbledon runners up got off to a cracking start breaking Melo's serve in the third game and held comfortably to close out the first set in 29 minutes.
They served superbly throughout and faced just one break point in the match, but it came in the 12th game of the second set and Klaasen was broken when he double faulted to hand the set to Kubot and Melo.
It went to a deciding match tie break which they dominated and had three match points at 9-6. But after Melo won both his service points, Venus missed a routine volley serving on the third match point. However he won his next service point before Melo netted a forehand volley off a Klaasen return of serve to hand the match to the Kiwi and South African.
