Queenstown's Ben Mclachlan, who currently attends California Bears US College, picked up his first ATP point at the US$15,000 Men's Futures in Sacramento today.
The 20-year-old Kiwi breezed through qualifying, dropping only nine games in three matches to secure a spot in the main draw.
Mclachlan won his first round against fellow qualifier Vahe Assadourian (USA) 6-0 6-4 for his first victory at a professional event.
In the second round, Mclachlan lost to American Jeff Dadamo, currently ranked 641 in the world, 2-6 6-4 4-6.
Fellow Kiwi Dan King-Turner won his opening match in three sets over Olivier Sajous (HAI) 6-3 6-7(8) 7-5 but fell to Brazilian Pedro Zerbini 7-5 4-6 3-6 in the second round.
