Close, but no cigar for New Zealand in the Asia/Oceania Group Two Davis Cup tennis final against Thailand in Bangkok.
Dan King-Turner and Michael Venus have fallen just short of wrapping up the final, blowing a 2-0 lead to lose the doubles in five.
New Zealand now leads the tie 2-1 heading into the reverse singles tonight.
Team captain,Marcel Vos, says it would have been nice to wrap it up 3-0 but it was a tall order for King-Turner and Venus with their Thai opponents both in the top 100 in the world rankings.
Meanwhile, France is through to the Davis Cup final after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead over Argentina in Lyon and the Czech Republic leads Serbia 2-1 in the other semifinal in Belgrade.
