Tennis: Kiwi Michael Venus and partner Raven Klaasen stun the Bryan brothers to make ASB Classic final

Kiwi Michael Venus and partner Raven Klaasen (South Africa) have progressed to the ASB Classic doubles final, with a stunning win over Mike and Bob Bryan.

The Bryan brothers have garnered 34 grand slam titles between them but weren't in the contest, beaten 6-4 6-1 in only 53 minutes.

Venus and Klaasen were superb, in one of their best performances as a combination.

They broke the Bryans at will, and the victory was extra special for Venus, who had never been on the winning side against the American legends in his doubles career.

Venus and Klaasen only dropped three points on first serve in the first set, and just two in the second. They forced six break opportunities on their opponents' serve, converting four, but didn't face a single break point themselves.

The 2018 Wimbledon finalists will face Jan Lennard Struff and Ben McLachlan in Saturday's final.

They have met on two previous occasions, with one win apiece.

Struff and New Zealand-born McLachlan, who now represents Japan, beat the top seeds and world No 1 combination Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic 6-4 6-7 (6) 11-9.

Struff and McLachlan showed impressive mental resolve, after failing to convert a match point in the second set tie break but recovering from that set back.

After both teams defended match points in the super tiebreak, Struff and McLachlan finally sealed the result when a Marach return went wide.
