Kiwi Marcus Daniell and partner Marcelo Demoliner has progressed to the quarter finals of the ASB Classic doubles tournament, with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Guillermo Duran and Joao Sousa.
It was a tight match but Daniell and Demoliner, who teamed up in June last year, were more assured on the big points.
They forced three break points in the first set - converting one - and were rock solid on their own serve, losing only three points in the entire set when their first serves landed.
The second set was closer. Games went with serve until the seventh game, when the New Zealand/Brazillian combination grabbed a break.
Daniell and Demoliner then faced some heavy pressure on serve - saving four break points - before Daniell served out the set to seal the result in 67 minutes.
