Tennis: Kiwi advances at US Open

New Zealander Ben McLachlan and Irish partner Sam Barry are through to the second round of the US Open Junior boys doubles.

They defeated fifth seeds Juan Sebastian Gomez (Columbia) and Yasutaka Uchiyama (Japan) 2-6 6-1 10-5, getting past the seeded duo in a match tiebreak.

McLachlan and Barry will play the Brazilian combination of Karue Sell and Bruno Semenzato in the second round.
