New Zealand tennis wildcard Dan King-Turner's hopes have been boosted for the Heineken Open. Despite a world ranking of 378, he has drawn a qualifier rather than a top seed in the main draw which starts tomorrow.
Like King-Turner, fellow wildcard Gael Monfils meets a qualifier in the first round. The Frenchman is a former No7 who has won four ATP titles and made 13 finals. Completing the wildcards is Olivier Rochus (ranked 90) who features in one of the more anticipated opening match-ups against Spaniard Albert Ramos (ranked 50). Rochus was a Heineken Open finalist last year. Fourth seed Sam Querrey meets the winner.
The top four seeds - David Ferrer, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Tommy Haas and Querrey have byes in the first round. Seven of the world's top 30 players feature in the draw.
The meeting between 46th ranked David Goffin and 33rd ranked Thomaz Bellucci is expected to be another tight match. Brian Baker is another player to watch. The 27-year-old American returns to the tour after six years away where he had five operations.
