KEY POINTS:
Spain's David Ferrer has won the Heineken Open men's tennis singles title in Auckland.
Ferrer, the third seed, won his third ATP Tour tournament when he beat top seed and compatriot Tommy Robredo 6-4 6-2 at the ASB Tennis Centre today.
Ferrer was more precise, ran harder and made fewer errors than Robredo, who seemed below his best.
After winning the first set following a break in the 10th game, Ferrer broke Robredo twice in the second set and only needed one match point to take out the tournament when Robredo hit a forehand too deep.
