The Patriots famously came back to win and Bouchard was spotted just a few weeks later looking chummy with Goehrke while they enjoyed their first date with courtside seats at a Brooklyn Nets NBA game.
The story is the stuff of fairytales — and it's no surprise Hollywood is interested in telling the story to the world.
It was announced on Wednesday (AEDT) that Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation has picked up the rights to a romantic comedy film based on Bouchard's public relationship with Goehrke.
Deadline first reported the news that Hollywood legend J.J. Abrams, who helped produced and write smash hits Armageddon and the third Star Wars trilogy, has signed on to oversee the film.
The report claims Bouchard will feature as an executive producer of the project.
She followed up the report by tweeting : "Welcome to Hollywood".
Bouchard last year raised eyebrows when she was spotted on a third date with Goehrke — more than a year after they first met.
A bikini-clad Bouchard was spotted with Goehrke on a beach in Miami one week after she shared a photo of the pair lying together on a bed.
She also got tongues talking last month when she cheekily was back to her old tricks tweeting up a storm during the Patriots Super Bowl win.
The Canadian star cheekily posed a question on her Twitter page.
"This game thooo. Any bets?"
It was awfully similar to the moment she first tweeted against the Patriots in the 2017 NFL season finale — the moment that has now turned into a movie.
Bouchard has since dished on her first date with Goehrke, describing him as a gentleman.
They were then spotted at the 2018 Super Bowl as guests of NFL Canada where they again shared pictures of them having fun together.
Goehrke hasn't been seen on Bouchard's Instagram in 2019, but her page has still been responsible for headlines.
Bouchard's social media game has been on fire lately.
A couple of weeks after posting a trio of happy snaps with some banging captions the 25-year-old star was back at it, this time letting the world know what she wants for her birthday.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate turning 25 last week, Bouchard posted a picture of herself from a modelling shoot with the caption: "It's finally here, turning 25 on the 25th. My 'golden year'. Sh*t better happen. Looking to bring this amount of extra into the next year."
It comes after a nightmare few years on the tennis court for Bouchard.
In 2014 she was the hottest young prospect in women's tennis, making the semi-finals of the Australian Open and French Open and going on a stunning run into the Wimbledon final.
But the past 18 months saw her sink to her lowest ebb. The worst of it came in June, when Bouchard was close to slipping out of the top 200.
However, recent signs suggest she is finding her groove again. At the ASB Classic in Auckland in December, she progressed to the quarter-finals before being beaten in a three set thriller by second seed Julia Goerges.
That came on the back of an impressive last showing of 2018 when she again lost to Goerges, this time in the final of a tournament in Luxembourg.
Bouchard was overpowered by Serena Williams in the second round of last month's Australian Open but showed glimpses of her best tennis to make the quarters at Newport Beach in the States later in January.
