Marina Erakovic has bounced back from her first round defeat at the US Open by winning her opening match at the $US235,000 Challenge Bell tournament in Quebec.
Erakovic, who lost to world number 102 Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor in straight sets in New York, defeated American Mallory Burdette 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
The New Zealand number one reached the Quebec final in 2011 before going down to Czech Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova.
Erakovic will face either Zahlavova-Strycova or Eleni Daniilidou in the second round.
