New Zealand's Marina Erakovic and Russia's Elena Vesnina advanced to the doubles semifinals at the US$220,000 WTA event in Linz, Austria this morning (Friday).
The pair beat Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 4-6 6-3 (10-6) in the quarter-finals.
They were set to take on top seeds Giesela Dulko of Argentina and Flavia Pennetta of Italy in the semi but the Australian Open winners retired when they were 3-0 down in the first set of their quarter-final match.
Fourth seeds Erakovic and Vesnina instead face the unseeded pairing of Latvian Liga Dekmeijere and Croatian Petra Martic.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's Jose `Rubin' Statham and Brydan Klein of Australia are through to the doubles final at the US$15,000 Men's Futures in Kargoorlie, Australia.
