New Zealand tennis No 1 Marina Erakovic and her doubles partner have toppled the seconds seeds at the US Open this morning (NZ time).
The unseeded paring of Erakovic and her Croatian partner Jelana Kostanic Tosic beat Kveta Peschke (Czech Republic) and Rennae Stubbs (Australia) 6-4 3-6 7-5 in a first round match.
The win will be particularly welcome as Erakovic had a disappointing start in the singles draw, posting her fifth consecutive first round exit after losing to Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier two days ago.
