Marina Erakovic's US Open campaign is over after the New Zealand No 1 and Zimbabwean partner Cara Black were knocked out of the third round of the doubles in a marathon two-and-a-half hour match.
Erakovic and Black, the 13th seeds, went down 5-7 6-2 6-4 to Russian second seeds and French Open champions Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina. They had their chances but converted only four of 13 service break opportunities.
Erakovic was bundled out of the singles in the first round in disappointing fashion, going down 6-0 6-4 to Spaniard Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor.
