New Zealand's Marina Erakovic has been beaten in the quarterfinals of the US$50,000 ($63,200) ITF women's tennis event in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
Second seed Sabine Lisicki, of Germany, beat the 23-year-old world no 174 6-3 5-7 6-2. By making the quarterfinals, Erakovic should improve her ranking by 10 to 15 places before taking her place in the qualifying draw at the French Open.
Erakovic and partner Sloane Stephens, of the UInited States, lost to Lisicki and Croatian Alka Tomljanovic 7-6 6-3 in the doubles quarterfinals.
