Marina Erakovic has edged closer to the world's top 50 after reaching the Bell Challenge final in Quebec yesterday.
The New Zealand number one moved 13 placings up the latest WTA rankings to world number 55. Her career high is 39th which she reached last year.
Erakovic lost the Bell Challenge final in straight sets to Czech Lucie Safarova 6-4, 6-3. It was the 25-year-old's second final appearance of 2013 after winning February's U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships.
The Kiwi has earned $US520,179 ($NZ637,127) in prize money this year and has a singles record of 27 wins and 20 defeats.
Recent US Open champion Serena Williams remains the top ranked player in the world, followed by Victoria Azarenka, who she defeated in the final at Flushing Meadows.
