Her form in the singles may have deserted her but Kiwi no.1 Marina Erakovic has progressed to the doubles semifinals at the Madrid Open in Spain.
Erakovic and experienced Zimbabwe partner Cara Black beat Flavia Pennetta (Italy) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia) in the quarterfinals 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 to move within one victory of the final.
Erakovic and Black will play the Spanish wildcard pairing Silvia Soler-Espinosa and Carla Suarez Navarro in the semifinals.
The winners' cheque for the women's doubles champions is €203,000.
Meanwhile Rubin Statham is through to the doubles semifinals at the US$125,000 Challenger in Kunming, China.
